- Eyrie Birding Lodge is small-scale in terms of accommodation with four double-suites, but this is deliberate. It enables us to cater for our guests more individually, to specially tailor your visit to what you would most like to do and see, or simple rest in our beautiful environment with leisurely "fun" birding.
- Experienced birders will know that the best birding time is in the early morning. Therefore we tend to gear our activities to early coffee/tea and rusks, birdwatch until it warms up, have a substantial brunch, either rest or undertake suitable activities, go birding again for the second activity peak later, then dinner.
- However, if you would like to try for specific "difficult" species, like the Black-fronted Bush Shrike, Orange Thrush, Buff-spotted or Striped Flufftail, go for a birding boat-trip on the beautiful Blyde Dam, watch our confiding Samango Monkeys, visit the Kruger Park for a day or more, go for a bird-orientated night-drive in big game country, visit other specific recommended Lowveld localities like the nearby third largest colony of Cape Vultures, we are happy to accommodate you with an individually tailored programme.
- Your host is Dr Peter Milstein, recognized ornithologist and registered SATOUR specialist tourist guide, author of over 150 scientific and popular publications, including author and co-author of nine books, for example The Complete Book of Southern African Birds. He has over 30 years of professional nature conservation experience.
- Unfavourable weather is no problem with us, enjoy slide-illustrated lectures of your choice on the fascinating Lowveld birds, mammals, etc.
